Our mission

  • Viêt Nam Plus in France (association de Loi 1901, registered in 1994)
  • Mekong Plus in Belgium (association sans but lucratif, launched in 2003, but the group has been active since 2000).

The goal is community development in the rural areas of Cambodia and Vietnam, with 3 key principles:

  1. Target the poorest, whose income is approximately 100 € (about 1 €/day/household).
  2. The participation of all in the design of the programs, in the strategies and methods, and in choosing the priority activities.
  3. Sustainability: all actions are designed to have a long term impact without continuing external support.

We support local teams, Thiên Chí in Vietnam and Rade in Cambodia, based in the villages and fully involved in the programs, living close to the people. Progress towards setting up a local organization has been slow in a context where local NGOs are still extremely rare but at long last, in 2004 Thiên Chí was born, first as a non profit development company, now transformed into a local NGO.

We support long term programs (5 to 10 years), which are low cost so that they could become sustainable with local resources. The priority is put on human development more than on infrastructure.

We have a charter to guide the choice of partners, funders or sponsors. We abide by the Accountability Charter of International Non Government Organizations.
