CFED |
The story of CFED -Cambodia Farmer Economic Development, is a nice one: a group of students at the end of college decide to stay in their village and work for its development. "We had no work and in face of deep poverty of our villages, we decided to do something». The lacked training but learn through hard work. Several short trainings provided by NGOs helped them a lot. After almost 10 years now, they have become quite confident. Mekong Plus wants to help them further, seduced by this little team committed friends who stick together in difficult circumstances. Certainly not arrogant like many large development organizations, but with a strong base in the villages. Micro credit with emphasis on savings; generation of employment through small handicrafts; rice banks. Training of farmers groups and of para vets: this is the part supported by Mekong Plus and we will facilitate exchanges between them and programs in Vietnam, with a higher technique and experience in agriculture extension. Another issue is the poor governance of most local NGOs: virtual board at best, lack of financial transparency... In collaboration with an experienced Khmer training organization, we will help them to make their institution stronger. Read the notes de visite |
